Take the Trolley to “SCARY-ETTA”
by Joni Goodin
Most of us have spent an afternoon enjoying the sights of downtown Marietta, but have you ever been to Scary-etta? Well, it’s not really a place … it’s more like a state of mind! Scary-etta is a 90 minute, fully-narrated trolley tour through the haunts and history of Marietta, Georgia. Hop aboard the historic Marietta Trolley for a ‘spirited’ ride and hear the ghost stories, folklore and legends of this enchanting “gem of the south.” During your tour you will disembark twice for a closer look at some of our haunted spots.
Our first stop is the Kennesaw House, home of the Marietta Museum of History. Learn of the many past lives of the Kennesaw House and why today it reportedly hosts 700 ghosts! As we continue our route you will be regaled with stories of activity in some of our local ‘haunted’ houses. Who keeps leaving the cupboard door ajar at the old Law House? Who showed up unexpectedly in the Christmas photo taken at the old Glover mansion?
Hold on to your seat as we journey to The St. James Episcopal Cemetery, The National Cemetery, and take a brief stroll into the Old City Cemetery. See where our Civil War soldiers rest today and hear the story of one Union Soldier who refuses to go quietly into the night!
Usher in the harvest season as you sit back and enjoy a cool breeze blowing through the open air trolley! A cool breeze … or one of our friendly ghosts that has decided to follow you home? Happy hauntings and we hope to see you soon!
Don’t wait too long to make your reservation … people are dying to get in!
The tour is appropriate for “kids” of all ages.
