 FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6th  (5:30pm-8:30pm) Martinis and Music at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art.  Enjoy a night of martinis and music at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. The event will feature live music featuring Prime and cocktails. Free to members and $8 for adults. The public can purchase a museum membership and receive a free drink / Cash Bar.

 

  

 

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7th  Marietta Square Farmers Market”( 9 a.m.- 12 noon)  located on the Historic Marietta Square.  The market will take place every Saturday  rain or shine  through December 2009. The market has products that are Georgia grown, made or produced.  That includes fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants, flowers, honey, breads, garlic, cheese and other such items.

 SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7th  (2:00- 5:00pm) Wine Tasting at the Marietta Wine Market. Theme: “AROUND ITALY” Open  to the Public)  Cost: Charity Donation: E’s Tree In Italy grapevines grow everywhere; they are Italy’s answer to American lawns. This Saturday with help from Bryan Coleman at Prime Wines, we will taste our way around Italy and explore wines from the Piedmont, Tre Venenzie, Campania, and Umbria regions.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7th Shamora! Live in Concert at the Strand Theatre (8pm) The Striker Foundation along with Striker Records Presents Shamshamora!ora! The “Substance Abuse” Tour debuting Shamora’s highly anticipated sophomore album! Live in concert like you’ve never seen her before! (new album, new look, new sound, new direction!) Come and experience the magic that surrounds her in this live production “Substance Abuse.” Preferred attire for this event is Black Tie/Evening Wear. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11th   (10:30am) “Mice Tours for Toddlers” at the Marietta Museum of History Museum Mice Tours are tours for toddlers ages 3-5 and their parents the 2nd Wed of each Month .  Based on programs by the Smithsonian Institute’s Early Enrichment Center, tours are offered to toddlers from age 3 to 5 and their parents. The purpose of the 45-minute tours is to introduce toddlers to history through very basic concepts like shapes, sounds, games, tools and jobs. Museum Mascots Murray and Etta are whimsical cartoon mice that help convey the themes for the tours and provide a little fun. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th (5:30-9:00pm) HISTORIC MARIETTA SQUARE HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE The shops on the square kick off the Holiday Season with their annual Holiday Open House.  All shops will be open until 9pm and many are having sales, entertainment and are serving light refreshments for the Candlelight Shoppers. 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th  (6:30-8:00pm) “High End For The Holidays Tasting”  at the Marietta Wine Market  $20pp Once a year we break out some of our hand selected Napa Cabernets and offer them for tasting.This event is limited to twenty people and sells out each year. The following wines will be presented for tasting that evening. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th “70 Years of “Gone With the Wind” a Re-Premiere” at the Gone With the Wind Museum (10am-1pm) Robert Osborne, host of Turner Classic Movies, will serve as emcee for the event. “Gone with the Wind” cast members Ann Rutherford, Mickey Kuhn and Patrick Curtis will be on hand during the two-day event. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19th “Evening of Holiday History” at Marietta Museum of History (7pm-9pm) 1 Depot Street, Suite 200  A small Georgia town struggles with the rationing and the sacrifices of America at war. Christmas is no exception. The townspeople learn the true meaning of “good will toward men” when a train loaded with German prisoners arrives in the station on Christmas Eve 1943. The movie is called “My Christmas Soldier” and local actor and producer Jeff Rose (currently appearing in the Lifetime Network show “Army Wives”) will talk about the movie and its making.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER  20th  it’s an “Enchanted Evening of Jazz” (7:30pm) at the Strand with legendary jazz musician Freddy Cole and his quartet (Nat’s brother!)

Theme: “Survivor ThanksgivingOpen  to the Public)  Cost: Charity Donation: Once again its time to put away all those foolish diets and exercise programs and do what Americans do best- eat, watch football, and fall asleep on the couch. Yes ladies and gentlemen its Thanksgiving, that glorious time of the year when we can eat and drink ourselves silly and no one seems to care. This Saturday we will feature a bevy of wines that will take you from the appetizer course right through desert. We call this Survivor Thanksgiving ,Out Eat -Out Drink- Out Last. And whatever you do, don’t get voted off the couch!

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24- JAN 3rd “Sanders Family Christmas” Main Stage Theatre in the Square  A lively event that has become a family destination in the holiday season. The beloved Sanders Family (of Smoke On The Mountain and Mount Pleasant Homecoming) are dealing with the beginning of WW II and its effects on the gospel singing clan. THURSDAY,  NOVEMBER 26th  “Gobble Jog” (7am-11am)  Run wild for a great cause at the MUST Ministries Gobble Jog Thanksgiving Day, at the Marietta Square. The event features a 5K and 10K walk/run, a 1K walk/run and the Tot Trot for kids 5 and under. The Gobble Jog 10K will be certified as a qualifier for seeding in the Peachtree Road Race and the U.S. 10K Classic. All proceeds benefit MUST Ministries, a faith-based, nonprofit organization ministering to the homeless and hurting in our community.
