Food & Sugar Cakes Patisserie – Marietta

Sugar Cakes Patisserie on the Marietta Square is owned by Ted Apron, a pastry chef who first earned his reputation in Atlanta at a 5-Star Buckhead hotel.  Apron states that his goal for the shop is to “bring a Midtown atmosphere to Marietta, and to bring the newest trends in pastries to the Square.”

Sugar Cakes specializes in individual sized delicacies and one of the most popular (and also his personal favorite) is the Mirage: an enticing combination of chocolate mousse, crème brûlée and hazelnut cookie.  Although Apron bakes French pastries, staying true to his audience, he serves these pastries with a Southern influence.  Such items include a pecan tart, a twist on the southern pecan pie, and strawberry shortcake.  And although the shop doesn’t bake seasonal items, Apron does keep things in his case fresh by regularly changing the daily offerings

They serve both breakfast and lunch on a daily basis. Besides all their wonderful individual cakes they also offer custom cakes and wedding cakes.  Sugar Cakes is definately not a place for someone on a diet, but it sure offers both beautiful and delicious pasteries.
