Dine Out – West Cobb Diner – Marietta

West Cobb Dinner – A Star is Born on Dallas Highway

by Greg Grogan

This new restaurant is located at 3451 Barrett Parkway which on the corner of Barrett Parkway and Dallas Highway behind Walgreens.

The restaurant features home cooking along with menu specialties.  Our group had meatloaf with collards and mashed potatoes, the sirloin and asparagus plate and a fried chicken salad.  The portions were large and the price reasonable at around $10 per plate.  We took our time ordering as we studied the day’s vegetables which were listed on a dry erase board in the middle of the room.

Some may remember this location as the Atlanta Bread Company, and the interior still closely resembles that arrangement.  There is the inviting fireplace, with tables close by, that is tucked into the back corner.  The wooden bar juts out into the main seating area, and the windows along the front allow for a view of Dallas Highway.  The walls are adorned with black and white stills of old Marietta, and three flat screen televisions are available for those who wish to keep up with the current news.

After our satisfying meal we ventured over to the Dash and Dine counter to gander at the deserts.  The chocolate peanut butter pie was recommended and did not disappoint.  As full as we were, we had to pass on the fresh cobbler of the day (apple), the key lime pie, banana pudding, fudge brownie sundae and sweet potato pecan pie.

We left the diner at around 1:00, and our table was immediately taken by another hungry set of patrons.  This place is popular, so plan on coming early or waiting for a table.
