The Will Rogers Follies – Sept. 4 – 20, 2009  – Subtitled “A Life in Revue”, this bright and breezy Tony Award winning production, focuses on the life and career of famed humorist and performer Will Rogers, using as a backdrop the Ziegfeld Follies, which he often headlined, and describes every episode in his life in the form of a big production number. The revue contains snippets of Rogers’ famous homespun style of wisdom and common sense to convey the personality of this quintessentially American figure whose most famous quote was “I never met a man I didn’t like.” Gorgeous show girls, rope tricks, big dance numbers…and…Will Rogers, what more could you ask for in a musical?

show_cinderellaRodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella – 20, 2009 – Dec. 4 – The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits.

show_allnightstrutThe All Night Strut! – Feb. 19 – March 7, 2010 – From coast to coast, in dance clubs, Broadway shows, and major motion pictures, folks young and old are rediscovering the Lindy Hop, the Shag and the Tango. Yes, Swing’s the Thing! And nowhere more than in this classy, sassy musical celebration of the 1930s and ‘40s. The All Night Strut! struts it stuff in a two act bonanza that carries us through the Depression, World War ll and the post war boom. From the funky jive of Harlem to the sophisticated elegance of El Morocco and the romance of the Stage Door Canteen, this is an evening filled with jazz, blues, bebop and classic song standards that thrill the heart, tickle the funny bone and raise the rafters, by such legendary songwriters as Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Cab Calloway and the Gershwins. An international hit, The All Night Strut! is a slick slice of yesteryear with sublime music and unbeatable energy that’s perfect for the new generation of Swing fans as well as die-hard devotees! ttle

show_littleshopShop of Horrors – April 16 – May 2, 2010 – The Lyric brings its fantastic, “Suzi” Award-nominated production to the Strand. One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to the highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty And The Beast” and “Aladdin.” Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, “Little Shop Of Horrors” never fails to entertain.

show_forumA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum – June 11 – 27, 2010 – “Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!” Broadway’s greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life’s troubles. “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan for his young master, in exchange for freedom.

show_hairsprayHairspray – July 23 – August 8, 2010 – With big girls, big hair, and even bigger laughs, comes Hairspray, a splashy musical based on the 1988 John Waters film. It’s 1962 and Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one dream – to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning teen queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a TV network, all without denting her ‘do! Get great seats to see Hairspray on Broadway by ordering them online or by calling us at 800-279-4444.
