Cupcakes Too Pretty to Eat, but I did Anyway

One of the hottest new food trends sweeping the country are Cup Cake Bakeries and Marietta has had its own since last summer. Mamie’s Cupcakes is the newest of Marietta’s bakeries and is located on the Roswell Street side of the historic Marietta Square. Miss Mamie’s Cupcakes and Such was originaly opended as the Cup Cake Charm Bakery and owned by Cindy Johnson, but she sold it to Mamie Doyle earlier this summer. The sign still says Cupcake Charm, until the new one is approved by the City of Marietta. This small cupcake bakery is located across the street from the Cobb County Courthouse.

Mamie told us that she bakes all the cupcakes and custom cakes herself. She is a recent graduate of a culinary school where she studied to b a pastry chef. I can tell you that she did well based on the several cupcakes we tasted. She offers over 60 flavors of cupcakes and usually has 20 different ones each week. Mamie told us that her best selling cupcakes are the Red velvet with cream cheese frosting, but her favorite are  the cheese cake and chocolate mint ones.

The shop has a number of table where you can come in and enjoy cupcakes with coffee, tea or a soft drink.  They  also do birthday parties. They take the kids (adults too) back in the kitchen and make frosting and then  set up the tables for them to decorate their cupcake. She also hosta  baby showers in the store. They set a $50.00 minimum order to reserve a party.In addition to selling cupcakes, she makes custom designed cakes and beautiful wedding cakes.

All the cupcakes are $2.50 each or you can buy 5 and get one free. Their slices of cake are also the same price. What I really like about her cupcakes are that they are jjust the right size and you can eat just the frosting first or cake and frosting together!

 This is a fun new addition to the shops of the Marietta Square and their cupcakes are truly delicious.
